One of the most forgotten corners of the planet serves as a setting to make the viewer fall in love with unspeakable landscapes and human warmth.
The ability of cinema to discover remote corners of our planet is evident in ‘Lunana, a yak at school’, a production that takes us to Bhutan, a distant kingdom of the Himalayas, which achieved its first Oscar nomination with this simple and compelling story which is already, with the permission of ‘La copa’ (Khyentse Norbu, 1999), the most important title to come out of the country thanks to a small adventure that serves, at the same time, as a vindication of the charms of a territory in the heights.
First feature by Pawo Choyning Dorji, author of the script, the film introduces us to a teacher who, overwhelmed by his narrow borders, wants to see the world and become a singer. To lower his feet to the ground, his superiors decide that it is time for him to take charge of the education of the students of one of the most remote schools on the planet, a place without electricity or teaching material of any kind with which, like the viewer, you will end up in love with the unspeakable landscapes and human warmth.

Synopsis: Ugyen is a young teacher in Bhutan, who shirks his duties as he plans to go to Australia to become a singer. As a reprimand, his superiors send him to the most remote school in the world, a glacial Himalayan village called Lunana. After an exhausting journey, Ugyen arrives in Lunana, where he finds himself without electricity or heating, in a school with no windows or blackboard. Though poor, the villagers warmly welcome his new teacher, but he is faced with the daunting task of teaching the village children without any materials.
