Shailene Woodley swapped the plunging tank top from her 2026 Emmys red carpet look for a plain t-shirt before heading into the after-parties following the Sept. 14 ceremony in Los Angeles, covering up part of her outfit for Disney's bash at Vibiana.
The 34-year-old actress arrived at the ceremony already a winner, having won for her guest role in "Paradise" at the Creative Arts Emmys days earlier.
Woodley's red carpet ensemble came straight from Balenciaga's Fall/Winter 2026 haute couture collection. It featured gold sequined pants, a plunging periwinkle-colored tank top and maroon leather gloves that reached past her elbows. While her performance in "Paradise" was universally praised, the outfit left the internet more divided.
By the time she reached Disney's after-party, Woodley had traded the tank top for a t-shirt promoting the 1986 film "Home of the Brave."
Paradise's Night at the Emmys
"Paradise" entered this year's Emmys with seven nominations, including a spot on the Outstanding Drama Series list alongside "The Diplomat," "The Gilded Age," "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," "The Pitt," "Pluribus," "Slow Horses" and "Your Friends & Neighbors." Woodley's win proved to be the series' only one of the night.
Season two of "Paradise" also stars Sterling K. Brown and Julianne Nicholson. Woodley played Annie, a character whose story unfolds from the moment the show's natural disaster strikes through her eventual meeting with Thomas Doherty's character, Link.
Woodley on Playing Annie
Woodley said her character's calm, practical nature is different from her own personality. "Annie and I are actually very different, which was fun to play somebody that was very different than who I am," she told People in April. "I think the one point of relation is we're both quite resilient, but the way that we practice that resiliency is different. I'm an emotional roller coaster sometimes and Annie is quite linear, I think, in her approach and practical."
She said what drew her to the role was the show's sense of honesty. "I am drawn in, generally, by things that feel honest and authentic," she explained. "Even if it's in a heightened reality or within the confines of an absurd character. As long as there's honesty in it."
Asked about the season two finale, Woodley said she has no idea what's coming for the show's third season. "This sounds crazy, but I'm excited to see what happens in 'Paradise' season 3 because I have no idea," she said. "And I don't want to know, so I'm on the edge of my seat like being a fan of the show."
