Spanish journalist Sonsoles Ónega wore an elegant white Zara shirt dress to attend a ceremony in Lugo on Friday commemorating prominent figures in journalism and honoring her late father, Fernando Ónega.
The emotional memorial service, held at around 7.00 p.m. in the Galician city, brought together Fernando Ónega's children Sonsoles, Cristina, and Fernando as their father was posthumously proclaimed an Adoptive Son of Lugo.

Sonsoles Ónega selected a classic bohemian white shirt dress for the occasion, opting for a clean silhouette designed to maintain comfort during the ongoing summer heatwave. The midi dress featured a belt to define the waist along with intricate embroidery, eyelet perforations, and delicate sheer panels that reflected key summer fashion trends.
Sold out Zara spring collection design
The garment originally debuted in the spring and summer 2024 collection from Spanish fashion brand Zara, where it became one of the season's most sought-after items and sold out within minutes of release at a retail price of 70 euros. Although the exact piece is no longer available on the brand's website, Zara continues to offer similar shirt dress models.

The white shirt dress provides a versatile fit suitable for women of all heights, featuring adjustable skirt buttons that allow the wearer to leave the skirt more open or closed to reveal the legs. Ónega completed her outfit with sensible low-heeled gold sandals featuring multiple thin straps, creating an optical illusion of elongated legs while keeping the ensemble sophisticated and understated for the emotional ceremony.
Zara is the flagship brand of Inditex, the world's largest fashion group based in Arteixo, Galicia. Ónega has repeatedly chosen items from the Spanish retailer during her summer holidays, including a striped shirt priced at 8 euros and various linen blouses designed to pair with classic trousers.
Tribute to Fernando Ónega and political reflections
During the memorial in Lugo, political leaders also gathered to honor Fernando Ónega. Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the main opposition People's Party and former regional president of Galicia, urged political figures to learn from Ónega's career so that politics would not devolve into a table of card sharpers.

Fernando Ónega was a celebrated Spanish journalist, author, and media executive who built a distinguished career across radio, television, and print journalism over several decades. The title of Adoptive Son of Lugo is one of the highest civic recognitions granted by the municipality to individuals who have established significant ties and contributions to the city.

The ceremony concluded with family members and attendees celebrating Fernando Ónega's lasting legacy in Spanish journalism and his personal connection to Lugo, as Sonsoles Ónega and her siblings accepted the tribute on their father's behalf.
