Young Tug was charged Wednesday with seven counts of felony counts, including possession of illegal drugs and firearms, just days after being named in an indictment of alleged gang members in Atlanta.
According to the country’s prison records, the rapper (real name Jeffrey Williams) now faces additional charges including possession of controlled substances for distribution and possession of unidentified illegal weapons such as a machine gun or shredder. The new charges add to existing charges against the rapper, which included charges of illegal banditry and conspiracy under the influence of state organized crime and violation of the Corrupt Organizations Act. None of the new tax documents have been made public and little is known beyond the allegations themselves.
In an initial 88-page indictment released Monday, prosecutors said Young Tug, Guna and 26 others were members of an allegedly violent street gang called Young Slime Life. Several YSL members have been charged with a wide range of crimes, including murder, car theft, armed robbery, drug trafficking, and illegal possession of firearms.
The young thief was arrested on Monday. Guna was arrested on Wednesday morning. Possible YSL members were also arrested, but some of them have yet to be arrested.
On Tuesday, Young Thug’s attorney Brian Steele told local media: “Mr. Williams had committed no crime and that he “fought to the last drop of blood to cleanse him”. Gunna’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis said that YSL had “destroyed our community” and was demanding “maximum fines” for participants, including life imprisonment for some.
“It doesn’t matter what your reputation is, what your glory is,” Willis said. “If you come to Fulton County, Georgia, and you commit a felony, we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”
