On Twitter, Rainn Wilson complained that one of the villains of The Last of Us, HBO’s hit series, is a Christian
Iconic interpreter of Dwight Schurte in The Office, Rainn Wilson opined how Hollywood movies and series have anti-Christian bias. This speech came after the exhibition of “When We Most Need It,” eighth episode of the first season of The Last of Us.
The chapter in question introduces the villain davidplayed by Scott Shepherd, who is a religious leader of a community. In the plot, a person from his group attacks Joel (Pedro Pascal) and ends up dying. That’s why, david seeks revenge against the protagonist and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), but he changes his mind and plans to keep the girl in the village and become a kind of “father.”
In a publication made in twitter, Rainn Wilson wrote a note about the representation of david in the adaptation of The Last of Us2013 game, and stated how he “knew he was going to be a horrible villain” when he saw the character start to read the Bible. Then the artist asked if “could there be a preacher who reads the Bible on a show that’s really loving and kind?”
I do think there is an anti-Christian bias in Hollywood. As soon as the David character in “The Last of Us”
started reading from the Bible I knew that he was going to be a horrific villain. Could there be a Bible-reading preacher on a show who is actually loving and kind?— RainnWilson (@rainnwilson) March 11, 2023

Rainn Wilson would be muscular and with perfect teeth if he listened to agent advice
Dwight Schurteplayed by Rainn Wilson in The Office, is one of the most iconic characters in the series. However, if the actor had listened to the advice of agents, the salesman’s role could have been very different.
Responsible for hilarious moments, dwight he is extremely loved due to his peculiarities – mainly in attitudes and appearance. However, several agents Rainn Wilson they advised him, at the beginning of his career, to change his teeth and do weight training.
In an interview with The Guardian, Wilson explained that the physiognomy has a lot to do with the way he incorporates personalities to act and to enhance the comic side: “When you put a camera on someone, you are seeing a lot of what is already there.”
“With me, it’s like — I don’t even want to go straight to ‘weird’ — but I’m a different-looking guy who probably has a comedic side just because I have a big, weird face. I will never be josh brolin (actor of Thanos in Avengers), no matter how much I want to,” he continued.
The fact of recognizing appearance as an important aspect of the career was a reflection from the beginning of the career, when agents advised the actor to change physical characteristics that today are important marks.
“I had agents who were like, ‘You need to fix your teeth, get muscle and lose weight.’ But I realized early on that it was in the tradition of the character actor. Also, in terms of sensitivity, I’m weird! I play chess, play the bassoon, read science fiction. I’m not out there hunting, driving a truck (…),” he explained.

Without following the agents’ advice, Wilson remained with its particularities that were certainly essential to interpret dwight. As soon as he read the script for the series, he realized he was the right person for the role:
I have the weird. I have the impassive. I grew up playing Dungeons & Dragons. Who can do it better than me?.
