Known worldwide as Joel from The Last of Us, Pedro Pascal appeared in two advertisements for the Merge Mansion app; check out the videos
Last Friday, the 10th, an unusual video appeared on the youtube about the game Merge Mansion, surprising the internet. Part of the narrative that has been created by the game’s advertisements, the clip features none other than Pedro Pascal.
Launched in 2020, the Merge Mansion is a Finnish mobile game, in which users play as maddie, cleaning and tidying up the character’s family mansion. Known for its curious advertisements that bear little resemblance to the gameplay of the application, the game has already been downloaded more than 40 million times in Android and iOS stores.
It turns out that, despite the game being quite simple, those responsible for Merge Mansion have created ads different from the puzzles featured in the game. Full of drama, advertisements have even narrated the plot of a mysterious murder.
It is in this context that Pedro Pascal entered the universe of the mobile game, playing the detective Tim Rockford. “This is no ordinary game of canasta, but a mystery of the century with a granny and her knives. Family drama, dark secrets and a mysterious mansion await you to join the investigation. Check out:
In the narrative created by the advertisements, maddie finds himself facing a great mystery and has to tidy up his family’s mansion to discover new clues. “But why does grandma Ursula is so mysterious about all this? Cleaning up the mansion might be the only hope for maddie to shed light on the dark mystery of the family’s past Boulton”, explains the Merge Mansion.
Now, with the addition of Pedro Pascal in the plot, the mobile game has attracted even more attention, especially on social networks. In total, two advertisements with the actor were released and, together, the videos already have more than 9.8 million views – and no other video on the game’s channel on youtube has already surpassed 900 thousand views.
“Pedro Pascal Have you ever played a detective? Because now I want something like this”, wrote an internet user, in the comments of the first ad. “Pedro is here doing some extra missions. I’m loving this,” joked another. “I want this story in a TV series. I think it would be awesome,” asked a third fan, in the second ad.
For now, the Merge Mansion has not yet revealed Pedro Pascal it will be part of some larger project in the universe. Even so, the actor’s fans have created theories to explain his presence in the advertisements – the suggestions, in this sense, range from the idea of a common contract, to conspiracies and unlikely theories of debt and money laundering.
