Dwayne Johnson accused of vandalizing Black Adam and Shazam 2: Zachary Levi confirms

Dwayne Johnson It seems to be a major reason behind the not exactly encouraging performance at the global box office Shazam! Wrath of the gods. But let’s go back a step.

According to a new report published by The Wrapthe star will explicitly seek the coup within the DC world trying to make him Black Adams the very center of the cinematic universe. According to the authors of the aforementioned report – the well-known and reliable insiders Umberto ‘El Mayimbe Gozalez and Scott Mendelson – Johnson’s actions were aimed at avoiding any possible intersection with Shazam, which he himself considered which is a B-series character.

This conclusion is supported by more than one clue. Dwayne Johnson, in the course of his constant promotion of the future fight with Henry Cavill’s Superman has in fact never mentioned the character of Zachary Levi, who remains Black Adam’s historical nemesis. Johnson was determined enough to get to the put pressure to both presidents of Warner Bros. film division, which finally gave in to Johnson’s demands despite the plans for the new DC universe arranged by James Gunn – which, remember, will introduce a new Superman – is well underway.

There will also be controversy about the post credit scene of Black Adams. Johnson likes it definitely refused to introduce Shazam, which would have laid the groundwork for the much-anticipated clash, forcing Henry Cavill to appear in what would remain his final appearance in the former DC Extended Universe. The actor then explicitly requested not to include any character from Black Adams in the post credits scene of Shazam! Wrath of the gods, which is why, although noted, no member of the Justice Society appears in the post-credits scene. A reticence that has been shown before Shazam! of 2019, when Johnson refused just three days before filming to appear in a cameo in the credits.

It is therefore a series of decisions aimed at favoring the character of Black Adam, which according to another source close to the studio will be heavy. DC itself is damaged and the characters included:

“The decision to completely exclude an existing intellectual property (Shazam, ed.) where his character (Black Adam, ed.) was born and refusing to integrate his universe with other characters already had, causing Johnson to destroy two franchises and DC itself“.

A version that was also confirmed by several upper-floor executives who remained anonymous, pointing the finger at big ego of the starwhich declares: “Dwayne tries to see his person as more important than the movie itself. He is one of the few people who he thinks he is always the most important inside the room“.

A concept echoed by another executive with laconic: “Instead of making a film, he decided to create a brand completely focused on himself“.

It must be said that the performances are not great Shazam! Wrath of the gods they are largely the result of a decidedly inappropriate marketing campaign. However, it is inevitable to think that without Dwayne Johnson’s snobbery – which eventually expired on actual sabotage – things could have been very different. In all of this, in the past few hours, it is the same face of Shazam, Zachary Levi, who has expressed this matter, showing that he has pretty clear ideas.

In fact, the Shazam star shared a story on Instagram in which the matter was brief, adding a meaningful comment at the end of the text, namely: “The truth will set you free“. You can see a screenshot of the story below:

DC Universe, which in its plans should be completely focused on the clash between its Black Adam and Henry Cavill’s Superman. With all due respect to all those characters who would not have stayed worthy to face himsuch as the aforementioned Shazam.
