Alex Russocharacter played by Selena Gomez in Wizards of Waverly Place (2007), would experience gay romance in the teenage series. The information was revealed by Peter Muriettaproduction showrunner, on the podcast Wizards of Waverly Pod (via Omelet).

The idea was blocked by disneybut the sexuality of Alex it was something very natural for those working on the series: “I would have liked to play more with what was quite obvious to many of us. We didn’t get it at the time, but it was very clear to all of us what that relationship was.”
