A Netflix and the Back door won a lawsuit against the Christmas special that aired on the platform in 2019. The lawsuit was filed by the leader of the umbanda center Silver Ilê Asé Ofá, Alexandre Montecerratheaccording to the newspaper The globe.
In addition to R$ 1 billion in compensation, alexander asked to remove the episode from the streaming service. The Superior Court of Justice (STJ) sent the case to Rio de Janeiro to be archived. Thus, there is no possibility of appeal. The issue reached the STJ after several lawsuits filed for similar reasons.
The special The First Temptation of Christ portrayed Jesus as homosexual and caused revolt in leaders of different religions. Montecerrathe stated that the episode ridiculed homosexuality and religious values.
