In 2020, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston team up to be the heroes of a crime comedy: Murder mystery. Directed by Kyle Newacheck, the feature film parodied the yellow with a clear lack of subtlety. Three years later, Nick and Audrey Spitz are at the center of a new uninhibited adventure, this time directed by Jeremy Garelick. A sequel that works

While the first installment could be funny, it was still an overly classic comedy that lazily settled for parody of Agatha Christie-style crime films. So we didn’t expect much from this sequel. Jeremy Garelick’s feature begins with a rather funny first part, where Murder mystery 2 enjoys hijacking whodunit codes – a genre that has recently come back into fashion, thanks in particular to the saga With daggers drawn. With Murder mystery 2Jeremy Garelick makes fun of the genre with delusional sequences in which the director deflect clichés with mischievous humour.

There is for example a sequence without tails or heads, where all the suspects go one after the other into the bedroom of the Spitz couple. A fun and entertaining way of return to usual situations such. And gently mock Glass Onionwhich shares an almost identical initial premise, in which the individuals end up on a private island.

A shocking duo

After this strange introduction, Murder mystery 2 moves its plot to Paris. A more muscular part where our two heroes will face a horde of bad guys determined to recover the ransom money. The opportunity to stage some surprisingly successful action sequences. We must underline the fluidity of Jeremy Garelick’s direction, which proposes rather muscular scenes well shot and perfectly choreographed. Especially the moment of this van sequence on the streets of Paris very impressive, especially for a comedy.

Finally, Murder mystery 2 He can count the dynamic between Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. The two actors embody a loving and touching couple, to whom the public is easily identified thanks to their simplicity. Very generous in their interpretations, the two international stars give their all for this duo, which works so well thanks to aa correct writing. The two protagonists are put on the same level, have the same time on the screen and are always carried by correct writing.

What emerges is a couple that is fun, loving, egalitarian, romantic, cute enough, but also very happy, and sometimes sounds like a true love therapy. Thanks to these two characters, Murder mystery 2 it can address deeper issues of a couple’s expression after 18 years of living together.
