Alessandra Ambrosio can feel the energy of the Cannes Film Festival cult red carpet before her stiletto heel hits the floor.
“The carpet experience starts before you arrive at the palace,” says Cannes veteran the hollywood reporter. “Traveling on a cruise line can take a little time, but as soon as you step on the mat, you’ll get an adrenaline rush and feel like you’re in a dream.”
The Brazilian supermodel’s fantasy has been real for over ten years. Before returning this year, Ambrosio revealed details about his dizzying looks, what it’s like to be photographed and his favorite place to relax by the pool.
How do you regulate your red carpet-style skin strategy in front of a world event?
The Cannes Film Festival is glamorous to me. My main inspiration when thinking about what to wear to the festival is my favorite fashion icons Sophia Loren, Bridget Bardot, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor, but I always add something to my look. It’s one of the few places you can go big or classic, as well as experimenting with unique colors, details, and designs.
Have you participated in major events around the world? How does it compare to the skin?
This is the last film festival. I love how charming the French Riviera is. When you combine that charm with amazing movies and people from all over the world, you create an unforgettable experience.
How would you describe the feeling you get when you’re there and you’re standing in front of a crowd of photographers in front of the palace?
I feel like the carpet experience begins before I arrive at your palace. Traveling on a cruise line can be a little stressful, but as soon as you step on the mat, you’ll feel an adrenaline rush and feel like you’re in a dream.
Do you have a favorite skin spot to shave during the festival?
Hotel Du Cap is simply magical and unique. While I’m in Cannes, I enjoy having dinner or swimming in the pool at least sometimes.

“The fun thing about this dress is that I have to wear another dress on this rug but this amazing habit came to Julien McDonald two hours before the rug and as soon as I saw it I immediately fell in love with it and realized I had put it on. Red is always ideal for the red carpet.”

“This is a wonderful princess dress, which you can only wear on the skin. I love the color, the details and the tail. ”

“I have always been drawn to metallic dresses and Roberto Cavalli was no exception. While this is probably the tightest dress I’ve ever worn to a festival, it was simply stunning as it reflected the glare from the photographers’ cameras, making each image look like I was wearing another dress.

“Adding color to the rug is a lot of fun. I’ve always loved seeing pictures of my mom dressed in bold colors and classic shapes, so I created my own version of her classic style for this rug.”

“I love wearing white on the rug and I liked the flexibility and lightness of this dress. It was very ethereal and that’s what attracted me.”

Zuhair Murad I’ve worn it on the carpet several times and I’ve always felt like a princess, but what I liked about this dress were all the details. You can’t see it in this photo, but the back of the dress was open, so I decided to wear a long Grisogono necklace, which added to the look.”
