Broadway will maintain audience requirements for the mask through June

Broadway has extended the mask-wearing mandate for the public until June 30.

The decision comes after New York hit a high level of COVID-19 alarm this week due to increased public outreach and increased hospitalization. This advisory level includes a recommendation that the city government reinstate the requirement to wear veils in all enclosed public spaces. So far, Mayor Eric Adams said He no Mandatory masks.

“By maintaining our audience coverage needs through June, we intend to continue this experience safe for everyone, regardless of Omicron subvariants,” said Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin.

Today’s announcement will renew monetary policy, which expired on May 31. The decision to wear the mask will be announced in July and the following months in June.

Viewers will be required to wear face masks on Broadway beginning in July 2021. A vaccination confirmation mandate for members of the public, imposed at the same time, was suspended in most Broadway theaters effective May 1.

Demand for masks on Broadway has increased as the industry is one of the last in town to keep up with demand. Last week, “Company” star Patty Lupone yelled at an audience member during a post-show chat to put on a nose mask or get out of the theater.
