Obsession : Netflix’s new “hot” series
In recent years, Netflix has not been asked to offer more or less erotic productions. Indeed, between the saga 365 IDs, Lady Chatterley’s lover or also Sex/Life, the streaming service hasn’t hesitated to turn up the heat with its subscribers. The miniseries Obsession she is no exception to the rule as she quickly found herself in it the top 10 of the most viewed dramas on the platform. The reason ? Sex scenes that stop at nothing and get a lot of talk.
So, from realistic nude sequences to solo sex acts with a pillow, the series lives up to its title perfectly. We follow a very troubled passionate relationship between the surgeon William Farrow and the beautiful Anna Barton who is none other than William’s son’s bride. It should be noted that the series can count on a cast made up of well-known actors such as Richard Armitage (saga The Hobbit), Indira Varma (game of Thrones) or even Charlie Murphy (Happy valley).
An ending that leaves you speechless
In the final episode ofObsession, Jay ends up catching his dad and his fiancée enjoying themselves. Shocked by what he saw, he falls awkwardly off the railing of his building and dies instantly. Although this horrific accident results in the death of his son, his divorce from his wife and the estrangement of his lover who feels guilty for what he has done to her, William wishes to continue his relationship with her.
An obsession completely incomprehensible to viewers of the series, but which still has a strong support: its interpreter Richard Armitage. Indeed, during an interview with the magazine HIthe latter shared his thoughts on the attitude of the character:
William says he would do the same thing again, even if he knew the result. Yet we are talking about a terrible event that any human being would change if he had the chance to go back. But he doesn’t. The human spirit is astounding because I don’t know if I’ve ever known such a level of passion and obsession that I sacrificed my entire life for just one person. (…)
I feel like viewers might judge William pretty harshly. But I would also like to ask them to put themselves in his shoes and imagine what it must be like to experience something so overwhelming. In a way, this relationship gives him the impression of being reborn (…) I’m sure there are people who have lived through this “red line” and ended up extricating themselves from it. But I think they could spend the rest of their lives wondering about this person. They will never be able to get it out of their heads.
