Currently on pause in her acting career, Emma Watson’s last credit was in Little Women, 2019
Known for interpreting Hermione Granger in the movies of Harry Potter starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson took a career break after participating in lovely women (2019), in which he lived Meg March. In 2022, he worked on the short film prada paradox.
Now, during an interview with Financial Timesthe artist explained the reason for taking this hiatus in her career after participating in a film nominated for the oscar. “I wasn’t very happy, if I’m honest I think I felt a little trapped,” she explained.
“The thing I found really difficult was having to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have a lot of control over,” he continued. Watson. “Standing in front of a movie and having every journalist be able to say, ‘How does this align with your vision?’ It was very difficult having to be the face and spokeswoman for productions that I couldn’t be involved in the process.”
I was held accountable in a way that I started to find really frustrating, because I had no voice, no opinion.
So, this started to do a lot of harm to the actress’s mental health: “I started to realize that I just wanted to stay in front of things where, if someone criticized me, I could say it, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself. : ‘Yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better.”
In a different option of acting, Emma Watson thinks about acting behind the camera, as in a position of screenwriter or director – something she did in prada paradox. “People always told me that I should direct and produce, even when I was in [Harry] Potter. I was worried that it was just technical, not creative, and that I couldn’t bring out what I think is probably my ability,” she said.
Being a director seemed unattainable. I don’t think I had confidence in that. I know it sounds weird. I mean, I grew up on a movie set. But I’m happy to sit back and wait for the next right thing. I love what I do. It’s finding a way to do it without having to fragment myself into different faces and people. And I just don’t want to go into robot mode anymore.
