The Platform (Netflix): the resounding success of 2020
Released on Netflix in full containment in March 2020, the film The platform quickly created a buzz. Directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, this Spanish thriller is set in a dystopian universeinside a prison with a device as ingenious as it was cruel: the inmates were locked up two by two in cells stacked vertically around a pit.
At mealtimes, a platform descended from the floors with delicious food prepared at the top of the building. Each month, inmates were randomly assigned among the hundreds of floors. The higher they were placed, the more they could eat. Of course, the lower the platform descended, the less food remained, leaving those on the lower levels starving.

The film had remained at the top of Netflix’s most watched shows worldwide for several weeks. Particularly because of its open ending which had fueled the most heated debates among viewers…

The feature film is still directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia. In its tweet, Netflix announces that “the story is far from over,” indicating that it really is from a direct sequel to the first film. Our brains will still be challenged.
No information on the film’s release date has been announced at this time. It should arrive later this year on Netflix.
