Salma Hayek played herself and the character Joan in Season 6 of Black Mirror
Indicated to Oscar 2003 in Best actress per frida (2002), Salma Hayek is one of the main characters of the first episode of the sixth season of Black Mirrorentitled “Joan sucks.” However, the artist thought that her participation in the series “would bring her problems.”
In the chapter in question, a woman named JoanInterpreted by Annie Murphyfinds out how a streaming service, called streamberryturned her life into a television series, in which she is lived by Hayekwithout any kind of consent.
During an interview with Radio Times, Hayek commented on this unusual role in the series of Netflixand stated how the production presented her with “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do an interpretation of myself.”
“I needed to explore the concepts and clichés that people have about me and be self-deprecating,” she commented. “It’s like I’ve created an alter-ego where I can do the most disgusting and grotesque things you would ever do in reality… and I’m allowed to do it.”
However, even with this special opportunity, Salma Hayek had certain doubts at first: “There are so many moments that shocked me in the script. There’s a huge one that I had to accept and it made me ask, ‘Do I really want to do this? Will I have problems?'”
