sony Morbio so far it has had an “interesting” impact on viewers. The The comic film directed by Jared Leto received negative reviews ahead of its April release, with some fans also turning to social media to express their contempt. However, the film surpassed negative reviews by reaching the top of the box office on opening weekend and, more recently, the viral “Morbin ‘Time!” meme made the movie go viral. We can say that this notoriety is valid for his production recently announced its second theater season . And right after this news, Leto jumps into meme craze.
Apparently, fans enjoyed the “It’s Morbin ‘Time” meme making the rounds. As you’ve probably noticed, the saying is a pun on the iconic “Time to transform!” statement made famous by Powerful Power Rangers Morphin in the 90s. Some may not expect such a crossover, but here we are. in one Twitter post, Jared Leto expressed his appreciation for the post via a video. The clip shows the star holding what appears to be a script for a Morbio continuation. And you can probably guess what the subtitle of the proposed film is:
What time is it? pic.twitter.com/IuWR72WCc9June 3, 2022
Such an idea for a sequel would be pretty crazy, and honestly, I can’t help but think about the main character saying that line when he transforms into his vampire alter ego. It’s probably safe to say that Sony wouldn’t give the film that title if it came true. If that were to happen, I wouldn’t be surprised if filmmakers mocked the viral trend because of its popularity.
A second installment still seems like a pipe dream at this point, but the stamina of disrupted internet production could increase its chances of gaining an audience. As we’ve seen in the past, social media can be crucial when it comes to shaking things up in the film and television landscape. For example, without a social media campaign, fans may never have seen Jared Leto returns as the Joker in Justice League by Zack Snyder.
And while Sony has yet to confirm a sequel, it’s no exaggeration to assume the studio is considering one if there appears to be interest. Morbio eventually sank at the box office , but it wasn’t a total disaster financially. Plus, the lead actor still hopes so his character will meet Spider-Man one day . So there is at least some incentive from the company to consider another film.
Meanwhile, more stories are taking shape in Sony’s Spider-Man universe. The next film up for grabs is Kraven the Hunter, which you will see a torn Aaron Taylor-Johnson play the leading role. Dakota Johnson will also star in Madame Web together Euphoria with Sidney Sweeney. From a BTS point of view, there seems to be optimism around the future of the Spidey-centric franchise .
However, we’ll still have to wait and see what role Jared Leto’s living vampire will play. The end of Moribu definitely creates an interesting (if not confusing) future for the eponymous character, so there’s more story to tell. Until a concrete announcement arrives, I’m sure fans and Leto will continue to enjoy the meme. And I bet that if (or when) something is confirmed, much of the internet will collectively shout, “It’s Morbin time!”
