A geopolitical point that causes discussion

As reported variety, Barbie it was banned in Vietnam. Though it was due out there on July 21, the feature ultimately won’t be shown in theaters. The reason for this is a geopolitical point. A passage from the film shows a map representing the “nine-dash line”, which is used by China to claim that this part of the sea belongs to it. For its part, Vietnam claims this line violates his sovereignty in this territory.

In 2016, the Hague Tribunal ruled on the matter. He had unanimously stated that the “nine-dash line” it was invalid. But this decision was not followed by concrete measures to validate it. And China has ensured that ever sinceshe does not recognize this decision. Anyway, Barbie it’s not the first film to be banned in Vietnam for its depiction of the “nine-dash line.” This was also the case with Abominable. Released last year Unexplored he also suffered the same fate.

Either way, French fans will really get to go see Barbie in theatres. The feature film worn by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling will be released in theaters July 19th in cinemas all over France.
