Michael Cera Reveals How ‘I Stopped Taking Jobs That Would Make Me More Famous’
Even with a resume with movies like Superbad – It’s Today (2007) and Juno (2007) – both were successful at the time -, Michael Cera seriously thought about giving up his acting career in hollywood after the release of the two films.
It is worth remembering how the actor played evan in Superbadwhile he lived Paulie Bleeker in Juno. During an interview with The Guardian, Wax remembered hesitating a lot with his career at 19, the age he was at the time.
“I didn’t know how to walk down the street. Fame makes you uncomfortable in your own skin, it makes you paranoid and weird,” he said. “It had a lot of good stuff and I met a lot of amazing people, but it also had a heavy energy that I wasn’t ready to deal with.”
“There came a point where I stopped taking jobs that would make me more famous. I went through something of a crisis. I wasn’t enjoying the popularity, and I didn’t know if I wanted to continue acting,” he continued. Michael Cera in the conversation.
However, the actor managed to find a positive point in what he considered chaotic: “I would like to be an active actor who could enjoy everyday life and the world I created for myself. I think that was the answer I was looking for.”
