A piece : bet won for Netflix?
Netflix presented his series A piece August 31st. The expectation was huge around this project as it is a live action adaptation of the manga of the same name that has been going on since 1997. Above all, Eiichiro Oda’s work has given birth to a very popular anime which includes over 1000 episodes and is still airing.
The streaming platform then had a solid foundation to attract people, but was also taking a risk given the expectations of the fans. But it seems that the latter are satisfied with the first season. Interested audiences flocked to the show, which found itself in first place in the rating the 10 most watched content on Netflix in 84 countries. Or even better than Stranger things season 4 and Wednesdaywhich had achieved this first place in 83 countries.
A start that seems positive but that will have to be confirmed with more figures. Netflix can’t rely solely on fans.
Behind the scenes of the series
The important thing with A piece it was to reproduce the universe and the characters, but also the dynamism of anime. If this aspect is not so convincing for us, the production still seems to have tried to do the maximum by reproducing certain scenes almost shot by shot.

Also, the cast surrendered for power take part in action scenes. Netflix unveiled the making of stunts (video in article). We can thus see the actors and actresses train and reproduce the choreographieswhich allows for another insight into these action scenes (especially Emily Rudd’s use of a long stick).
The video also mentions Luffy’s ability stretch his body like a rubber band. An element that allows the choreographers to imagine all kinds of things and try to be creative with a dose of humor in the fights. His interpreter, Inaki Godoytalks about his intensive training, just like Mackenyu (Zoro) to wield swords.
