Hayao Miyazaki returns with The boy and the heron
Studio Ghibli became famous thanks to the animated films of the immense Hayao Miyazaki. The Japanese director is known all over the world and will have made several generations of spectators dream with, among others, my neighbor totoro (1988), Princess Mononoke (1997) or even Enchanted (2001). The depth of her stories and visual beauty have made her films cult favorites. There is therefore no doubt that her latest feature film, The boy and the heronis highly anticipated.
The film takes place with a first international trailer (in Japanese with English subtitles). A video (in an article) which is above all an opportunity to better see the director’s visual proposal. The latter obviously remained faithful to his style with a mixture of realism and fantasy. Also, we note some fascinating shots like this body that liquefies in contact with the hero’s hand.
An outstanding trailer
The boy and the heron will follow Mahito, 11, who later the disappearance of his mother she leaves Tokyo to return to the village where she grew up. There, meet a gray heron who will guide him on an adventure and help him understand the mysterious world around him. It is therefore once again a very poetic film that awaits us.
Note that the publication of this trailer is exceptional. For the film’s release in Japan, Studio Ghibli had decided not to do any promotion so that viewers could find out The boy and the heron be devoid of any information. A bold choice but one that we can understand given Miyazaki’s popularity in Japan. If the author were also very popular internationally, it would obviously be more difficult to apply the same for other markets.

Studio Ghibli makes an exceptional choice to promote Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film
When will Miyazaki’s film be released in France?
The Japanese public has already been able to find out The boy and the heron from July 14th In France, we will have to wait a little longer. Distributor Wild Bunch has decided to distribute the film on November, 1st Next. A date that can be partly explained by the postponement of the Dunes 2, which was originally scheduled for release on that same date. Some lucky ones will be able to see the film even a little earlier, on October 17, on the occasion of Festival of light from Lyon.
