Becky G Remembers Her Mexican Heritage in ‘Esquinas’

Becky G delivers her heart with her new album “Esquinas”. And that’s no way to put it: the album shows his Mexican roots.

Composed and produced in collaboration with multi-award winning composer and producer Edgar Barrera, Becky is based on his latest album “Esquemas”, to broadcast its own 100 percent Mexican and 100 percent American version.

And the regional, Mexican-inspired project creates a hybrid sound influenced by its roots, combined with a new-school twist that pays homage to the two flags it represents.

Inspired by her upbringing, her version of “Por Un Amor” pays homage to the late king of Ranchera music, Vicente Fernández, fusing a classic from Becky’s childhood with his unique style.

Throughout the album, the star’s signature voice is accompanied by instrumentation that her fans are not accustomed to. Accordions, trumpets, tubas and even the traditional Mexican tololoche appear in this production, each evoking the sounds Becky grew up with.
