The new season of American Horror Story is based on the book by Danielle Valentine, Delicate Condition, released in August this year. She used her own life as a reference, starting from her point of view as a pregnant woman.

“When you’re writing, you want to put characters in the worst possible situations. […] I thought about who I could give this specific pregnancy to,” he said. Valentine in an interview with Variety. It was in this way that Anna’s narrative, interpreted by Emma Robertstook shape.

Anna is trying to reconcile her desire to be pregnant with her career advancement. When she finally manages to get pregnant, mysterious situations begin to arise along the way and she soon tries to be convinced by several men that she lost her child.

“I was inspired by Shay Mitchell. She posted something on Instagram after experiencing a miscarriage. We were pregnant at the same time. I found it surreal — we were going through the same things, and she decided to share it with the public,” said the writer. “It served as inspiration to write about someone who was going through a horrible pregnancy.” Today, Mitchell has a daughter.

Valentine needed to read an article about George Clooney to better understand how the Oscar race works: “My knowledge of the Oscars is zero. I did research for months and read everything I could about actors who participated in it.”

There is a saying that goes: ‘plausible, even if it is unlikely’.

“It has to be at least realistic, because most readers don’t have much knowledge about how the Oscar process happens. I remember reading an article about George Clooney and the various obstacles he had to face during the campaigns, all while dodging the paparazzi,” he added.
