A good start but…
For its return to Netflix, the series Lupine, the third part of which has been available on the platform since October 5, broke a small record. Indeed, in the first four days of broadcast, its third season has the equivalent of 11.6 million views the best launch of a new season of a non-English-speaking international series since June 2021. Assane Diop (Omar Sy) can still count on his vast community of fans spread across the world to follow him in his new adventures. But wouldn’t that be a good start? a screen of smoke who would hide the underperformance?

A notable drop in ratings
In fact, second newsletter estimates Netflix and figuresthis figure of 11.6 million views does not bode well for the performance of Lupine short term. Projecting out to 28 days the estimate reaches 33.8 million views. Very far from the shows of the first two seasons, broadcast respectively in January and June 2021. The first season, the pun is appropriate, was in fact the “heist of the century” with a total of views approaching 80 million after 28 days .

The series created by George Kay and François Uzan in 2021, with star Omar Sy in the main role, had been a global phenomenon when its first season aired. At the time it was even the biggest non-English-speaking success in the history of the platform, later dethroned by the Korean series Squid game. The declining trend of the seasons of Lupine, even if the series remains widely watched, could thus push Netflix and the authors of the series to question themselves. For the moment, no information has been communicated about a potential season 4.
