Netflix: Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lellouche arrive

This month of October 2023, Netflix spoils viewers with of course its share of Halloween films, but also with additions of older feature films, which it is never too late to discover (or rediscover).

This is the case of sketch feature films, The infidelsreleased in 2012, in which seven directors (Fred Cavayé, Alexandre Courtès, Michel Hazanavicius, Eric Lartigau, Jan Kounen, Jean Dujardin, Gilles Lellouche) and one director (Emmanuelle Bercot) direct eight short films on the theme male infidelity. The variation around this topic ranges from drama to pure comedy. All the sketches are made by Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lellouche, who play different characters.

Note that segment number 4, “Ultimate Fucking”, directed by Jan Kounen, did not appear in the theatrical version, but was only present in the DVD version of the film. It is therefore the full version offered by Netflixwith these images that many viewers have certainly never seen.

Infidels Anonymous: an already cult sequence

The penultimate segment, Infidels Anonymous, directed by Alexandre Courtès, sees Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lellouche surrounded by other unfaithful men, in a support group that aims to “cure” them and put them back on the right path to married life. Alongside them we find Manu Payet and Guillaume Canet in the role of characters who already had the right to their own sketches (Simon and Thibault).

The first plays a man attracted to (very) mature women, while the second plays a preppy bourgeois who has great difficulty not falling in love with the first person. Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lellouche play a businessman and a sex addict.

Faced with Sandrine Kiberlain in the role of consultant, they try to be honest to move forward in their therapy, but the road seems very long. This is not the case with this sequence, only nine minutes long, but which is hilarious and which we never tire of (re)watching:
