Game of Thrones: spin-off in shambles
Immediately after the end of game of Thrones, HBO wanted to continue its collaboration with George RR Martin by offering the cult series several spin-offs. If the one about the White Walkers had never seen the light, the first to be broadcast, House of the Dragon, centered on the Targaryens, was a great success with audiences. The second season will also air in summer 2024.
Other spin-offs have also been announced, including one about Jon Snow, confirmed by George RR Martin himselfwhich takes place after the end of the events of game of Thrones. But more than a year after this announcement that delighted fans game of Thrones, no new information has been released. And the recent statements of the big boss of HBO, Casey Bloys, do not go in this direction.
Jon Snow isn’t back yet
The latter, in fact, declared, go TVLinethat no new projects take place in the universe of game of Thrones, was close to approval, though HBO continued to explore “different scripts and ideas.” However, he specifies that these are spin-offs A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Knight Errantset a century before the events of the mother series, announced last April, it is the only one to have been officially approved by HBO.
This is therefore bad news for the return of Kit Harington as Jon Snow who, as we remember, had returned to the other side of the wall, towards the wild places, after killing Daenerys Targaryen. Bad news also for the spin-off focused on the conquest of Aegon Targaryen and his sisters, which Variety announced was in development last April.
