The great Batman series is coming to Netflix
Anyone who grew up in the 90s must have at least heard of this animated series starring famous people Batman. The universe of Gotham’s masked vigilante has a myriad of different works. There are obviously the comics with the first appearance in 1939, and the live action feature films dedicated to it: that of 1966, then the tetralogy opened by Tim Burton in 1989 and closed by Joel Schumacher in 1997, the grandiose trilogy by Christopher Nolan (2005 – 2012), therefore The Batman by Matt Reeves in 2022.

There are also appearances by Batman in various DCEU films and television series such as Gotham AND Titans, as well as in the Arrowverse. There are also several animated films from Warner – DC Comics focusing on superheroes, Lego films, video games, etc.

The ideal spin-off of Tim Burton’s films
In 1992, after Batman, the challenge, Warner Bros. decides not to continue its collaboration with Tim Burton. His two films were successful, both critically and commercially, but the tone appeared to Warner executives and DC studio executives too dark and violent, and the director’s gothic art direction was ultimately not suited to They. But if it’s “no” for a new live action feature film, then why not develop this universe into an animated series ? Also convinced by the success of the series The little cartoonsWarner Bros. then entrusts Bruce Timm and producer Eric Radomski with the creation of Batman, the animated series.

For this series we find a nice variation of the famous musical theme created by Danny Elfman, and for each episode an orchestra records compositions. Paul Dini is writing the script for the series’ episodes and Bruce Timm is drawing and storyboarding. We owe it in particular to Paolo Dini the introduction of Harley Quinn in this series, and therefore in the DC universe. Directly inspired by Tim Burton’s universe, the aesthetic of Batman, the animated series mixes gothic and art deco, with the “square” design. typical of Bruce Timm’s creations.
