The Killer: a sequel to the Netflix thriller? David Fincher says more

The Killer: David Fincher gives chills to Netflix

David Fincher has been collaborating with Netflix on multiple projects for several years. It all started in 2013 with the series House of cards, which he produced (and partly directed). Then there were two other series (MINDHUNTER AND Love, death and robots) then two films: Mankreleased in 2020, and The Killercoming to the platform in November 2023.

In this new thriller adapted from the French comic The killer, David Fincher is once again interested in a serial killer. Or rather to a professional killer: a nihilistic and methodical hitman, played by Michael Fassbender.

While he leaves no room for chance or improvisation when carrying out his dirty work, a grain of sand blocks the perfectly oiled machine during one of his executions. His employers then chase him and he must eliminate them all to find peace of mind.

A sequel soon? David Fincher sows doubts

Since its release on Netflix, The killer It has clocked up more than 56 million hours viewed and quickly rose to the top of the platform’s most-watched films. Faced with such a success, one wonders whether a sequel is possible, especially since the end of the film does not completely close the door on the return of the character played by Michael Fassbender. David Fincher was asked about it by the magazine Entertainment weeklyand it doesn’t even close the door on a potential second part:

Never say never ! There’s no point in having rules for these things. I’m the one who before Zodiac said: ‘Enough with serial killers’

Self The Assassin 2 sees the light, it will be the first sequel since then Alien 3, which David Fincher agrees to direct. He had almost done the sequel to World War Z before the project failed.
