Napoleonthe film event of the week
The long awaited Napoleon finally released in theaters! Directed by Ridley Scott and with Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, the film delivers an impressive performance. The filmmaker has reproduced battles with physical means (we are talking about three hundred extras and a hundred horses) for a worthy result, which allows himself freedom with History for the benefit of the spectacle. It’s also interesting to look at an honest portrait of Bonapartewith his flaws, sometimes ridiculed, while presenting his exploits.

Despite the poor pace and the impression that there is a lack of connection between some sequences, we highly recommend you discover this work on the big screen (see our review). And if you don’t like the idea of seeing French characters speaking in English, remember that Russell Crowe never spoke Latin in Gladiator without shocking anyone.
Virginie Efira and Pomme are in cinemas
Self Virginie Efira she has nothing left to prove as an actress, this is not the case singer Apple (real name Claire Pommet). It didn’t take her long to convince herself since her first role The Silver Venus, the current actress is more than convincing. A remarkable performance, like that of Virginie Efira in Nothing to loosewho sees his family life threatened by social services.

Finally, for a little extra lightness, you can also discover I’m not a hero, a comedy-drama starring Vincent Dedienne who announces to his friends, relatives and colleagues that he has a serious illness, before learning from his doctor that it was the wrong diagnosis. But seeing the attention now being paid to him, he hesitates to reveal the truth…
French science fiction and Chinese sweetness
Finally, two “small releases” worth mentioning this week. Mars Express AND A winter in Yanji. The first is a French animated science fiction film. The story is set in a future where humans and androids coexist. On Mars, a private detective named Aline Ruby and her partner Carlos Rivera, an android, will investigate the disappearance of a cybernetics student. The visual proposal is interesting and director Jérémie Périn’s ambition is refreshing.
The second film, A winter in Yanji, is much quieter as the Chinese film follows a young man who meets a tour guide and one of her friends. As they cross paths, a trio is formed different snowy landscapes when they don’t meet for a drink. A relaxing romantic drama.
