Noah Schnapp, protagonist of Will Byers’ character in “Stranger Things”, has generated controversy online, the American actor has shared publications offensive to Palestine and supporting the sovereignty of Israel, which has upset some of the series’ fans. On social media, a mobilization has been growing to boycott the final season of the series, scheduled to premiere in 2025.
The matter gained more prominence after the actress’s dismissal Melissa Barrera of the movie “Scream 7” due to posts supporting Palestine. The controversy has arisen over the difference in treatment between men and women in the industry, as the employment contract Noah remains intact, despite the xenophobic content of his posts.
Noah Schnapp expressed support for Israel by liking xenophobic and racist posts on Instagram, mocking the Palestinian population. In a video released on the platform, Schnapp and his friends display “Zionism is sexy” stickers. “I love Hamas” stickers plastered all over @UBC by @SJC_UBC.
How can Jewish students ever feel safe on campus when they see student groups expressing love toward a genocidal terrorist organization dedicated to the slaughter of Jews worldwide?!
