The year has passed. AND Light Gaggi said goodbye in a big way: more precisely with the release of “Altar”, their first album.
Yes, the 21-year-old singer presents her first album, with ten original songs in which she displays all her talent.
Reaffirming that she is one of the most influential new voices on the local scene, Luz presents ten original songs crossed by their unique style and a powerful concept.
“I believe that Altar is, beyond its meaning itself, the deification of something or someone, the way in which one positions one’s emotions, one’s thoughts and one’s beliefs towards it, the abandonment and absolute gratitude, surrender and trust that there is something greater, outside of any type of religion, ideology or politics,” explains the artist.
Altar represents an introspective journey on the part of Luz: “Because I tore off my shell, because I was delirious, because I observed too much, because I fell in love, because I understood the how and why, because I was the most sensitive person. The altar is the bodies, the pure soul, the guilt, the instincts, the pain, the raw, the broken, the glorious, the miracle and the healing. The altar is creation, because I believed in altars and because I considered myself one,” he adds.
Musically, The album combines pop and urban music with the epic sounds of River Plate’s roots., with reminiscences of flamenco and African-American hip-hop. Luz’s powerful voice adds the distinctive seal to each of the songs in which connections, the deepest emotions, ambition, disinhibition and empowerment are the protagonists.
It was recorded in Los Angeles, with Claudia Brant (who has written songs for Camila Cabello, Soledad, Alejandro Sanz, Luis Fonsi, CNCO, Barbra Streisand, Ricky Martin, among others) and Josh Cumbee (Janet Jackson collaborator, Take That, Madonna, Chris Brown, Adam Lambert, Kygo and many others).
The music video for “Altar” – the track that gives its name to the album –, in which we see Luz leading a spectacular fire ritual, and the visualizers for all the songs, were directed by Belén Asad.
