This successful but avoided comedy comes to Netflix

So far, so goodthe second wind

The year is 2019 and popular French comedies fill cinemas. What else have we done to the Good Lord? ends with more than 6.7 million entries, surpassing, among others We’ll finish together (2.8 million) e Out of the standards (2.1 million), Nicky Larson and Cupid’s perfume (1.6 million) e The invisible ones (1.3 million)… But one comedy was shunned and not invited to this entrance party: So far, so good.

Not to be confused with, also on Netflix, the series of the same name by Nawell Madani, So far, so good is directed by Mohamed Hamidi and offers a clash of cultures animated by a surprising comic duo that brings together Malik Bentalha and Gilles Lellouche.

Fred Bartel (Gilles Lellouche) is the charismatic head of a trendy Parisian communications agency. After a stormy tax audit, he was forced by the administration to transfer his business to La Courneuve overnight. Fred and his team meet Samy (Malik Bentalha), a young man from the suburbs who will immediately offer to teach them the rules and customs to adopt in this new environment.

The important thing is not the fall…

Its landing on Netflix on December 8th could give a second life to this social comedy that had disappointed at the time of its release in theaters, with only 570,000 entries. A disappointing performance, despite the successful performances of the casting and in particular that of Gilles Lellouche, who was very inspired the portrait of this cynical business leader which will gradually reconnect to healthier values.

Furthermore, the opposition of social classes that constitutes the comic mechanics of So far, so good features some truly hilarious moments. As well as some memorable lines. A comedy that holds up well, but whose story maintains a relatively harmless development and perhaps doesn’t delve enough into the most interesting themes. This undoubtedly prevented the film from standing out better upon its release…

So, four years later, will its release on Netflix be an opportunity for rediscovery and success? Reply in a few days.
