David Soul has died at 80

He played police officer Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson, colleague and friend of David Michael Starsky, played by Paul Michael Glaser. Born on August 28, 1943 in Chicago, the actor is died on January 4, 2024 at the age of 80. The announcement of his death was made by Helen Snell, his wife, through a press release issued by Daily email. She points to it the actor died surrounded by his loved onesand remembers his work as an actor, but also as a singer and artist.

First a face to face with Clint Eastwood Starky and Hutch
David Soul’s career has begun since the 60s. He actually appears in several series like Turn the dolphin upside down (1967) or during an episode of Star Trek (1967). The 70s allowed him to have recurring roles in programs, but also to participate in some films. The most notable is probably Go Magnum (1973)in which he plays a police officer who commits murders and is pursued by Inspector Harry, played by Clint Eastwood.

But it was in 1975 that David Soul landed the role that would make him a television icon. He really becomes the Hutch of Starsky and Hutchand held this role until 1979 after four seasons. He will forever be associated with this character and will give fans a cameo in the film Starsky and Hutch of 2004. However, the actor remained very present on screens even after the end of the series. Both for simple appearances and for more regular roles, as with Arabesque (from 1991 to 1993).
Finally, in parallel with his acting career, David Soul worked in music. He recorded six albums (including a best of) between 1976 and 1997.
