Jack Johnson has a show in the City of Hope on October 27th.
An eco-conscious rocker was hired at City of Hope’s Spirit of Life Gala as the lead artist. At the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, this year marks the first in-person event in a two-year series since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Johnson was gearing up for the release of his long-awaited eighth studio album, meet the moonlight, says he is excited to participate in the night honoring his friends, Monte and Ever Lippmann. The brothers are co-founders and CEO of Republic Records and, as previously announced, will receive the top prize of the night, the Spirit of Life Award.
Deserving individuals will be selected for “significant contributions to the community in which they live and the profession in which they work”. Sylvia Rowan, John Platt, Mo Austin, Clive Davis, Quincy Jones, Francis W. Preston, Shelley and Irving Azof, Edgar Bronfman Jr., Doug Morris and Sir Lucian Grange have all won the award in recent years.
Johnson said: “For the last 20 years they have always been by my side. Now it’s my turn to focus on them and the important work they are doing with the City of Hope.”
Johnson has released seven studio albums and two live albums that have sold over 25 million copies worldwide. Their meet the moonlight He will make his debut on June 24. His label Brushfire Records and tour group are considered the sustainability heroes in the music industry. Additionally, Jack and his wife Kim founded the Kokua Hawaii Foundation to support environmental education in Hawaiian schools and communities, as well as the Johnson Ohana Foundation to support environmental, arts, and music education around the world.
