Until dawn : A cinematic game adapted into a film
Lately, video game adaptations have proven to be quite compelling. Especially on the series side, as highlighted The last of us. In the cinema there was recently the great success of Super Mario Bros.. Studies therefore continue to be interested in this medium and numerous adaptation projects are underway. The latest concerns a horror video game, also strongly influenced by cinema Until dawn.
This survival is a tribute to slashers like He shouted OR Remember…last summer. It is presented as an interactive film, with many videos made with famous actors such as Hayden Panettiere and Rami Malek. The story begins in 2014, in a chalet surrounded by nature. A group of friends meets there to spend several days. But a tragedy will happen. Pursued by a mysterious man, Beth and Hannah will fall off a cliff and disappear. A year later, they still haven’t been found and their brother Josh decides to invite his friends to the cabin. The rest of the game then depends a lot player choices.
A duo accustomed to horror cinema
Playing on the codes of slasher, Until dawn it is a very cinematic work both visually and in the themes addressed (such as the protagonists’ relationship with sex). The idea of making a film is therefore not so absurd, even if some will consider the original material sufficient. The Hollywood journalist announces in any case that the feature film is currently being developed by David F. Sandberg (the director of Shazam!and especially In the darkness AND Annabella 2) AND Gary Daubermann (Annabelle). Two authors accustomed to horror cinema, who will work in collaboration with Screen Gems and Sony, which are in production.

The scenario should resume the basics ofUntil dawn. But there will necessarily be a variation compared to the numerous narrative choices offered by the game: the feature film will still maintain the idea of a set of characters. It is not yet known whether cast members from the video game will join the film, which will be rated R (for ages under 17). There is no release or filming date yet.
