Great performances by the actress
If last week featured a great performance from Emma Stone, two other famous actresses are in the spotlight for the week of January 24th. Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore they are on display May December, new film by Todd Haynes. A confusing feature film where the former has to embody the latter for a film. Julianne Moore plays a woman who served a prison sentence for pedophilia and has since married her victim. Natalie Portman approaches him to play her role in a biopic. Between comic and dramatic moments, May December is intended to be a satire that “shows how an abominable situation can be healed by the media and artistic treatment” (see our review).

It’s not just American actresses who will dazzle in theaters this week Mélanie Thierry is also noteworthy Prisoners. A masterful costume film by Arnaud des Pallières, which takes the audience to the Salpêtrière hospital in 1894. It is in these places that Fanni will be voluntarily locked up to try to find her mother. Above all, you will discover the care given to the sick, while you prepare for the last great dance at the Salpêtrière.

Another great performance could come from Zac Efron, unrecognizable Iron claw, which chronicles the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a wrestling dynasty that has had a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day. But in the Bocche Memorabili genre it is impossible not to notice it Nicky Larson – City Hunter: Angel Dust. The animated film offers a new mission for the famous private detective.
And if Laura is still there to accompany him, their path will also meet that of other cult figures of Japanese animation, with Cat’s Eye and a cameo by Lupin. Something to satisfy fans of these heroes. For novice audiences the proposal is less relevant, due to a scenario that goes in too many directions. However, it remains quality animation. Proof in pictures:
Finally, we also highlight the comic releases The last of the Jews and the new version of The color purpleas well as the romantic comedy, unfortunately too classic, Everything except you. So there’s a lot going on this week, even with A roll of the dicea dodgy thriller by Yvan Attal.
