Spoilers ahead for season 3, episode 5 of The boys“The last time to look at this world of lies.”
Season 3 of Amazon Prime’s hilarious and hot superhero series The boys introduced several new faces (mostly Supes) that fans are sure to love during this new run. In episode 5, the series brought the former head of Vought’s hero management known as The Legend back to life. Portrayed by Paul Reiser, the character is a fan favorite of comic books and something of a parody of comic book legend Stan Lee. The Strange things The vet knew very little about the gory series at first, and is now opening up about fan reactions to its debut and the series in general.
Paul Reiser, who plays Dr. Sam Owens Strange things, talked about all things The boys with Variety. Apparently the beloved actor had no idea that there was such a show as the Eric Kripke adaptation. Although he had optimistic thoughts about the positive reactions to his performance, he admitted that the content of the series was not quite his “stage” for him:
I knew very little about the show. I hadn’t seen the show. I don’t think I’ve heard of the show. It’s so funny to me that it’s getting such a nice response, people are enjoying the character so much and they love it this season. I have friends who are passionate about this show, they can’t stop watching it. But it’s so funny to me because it’s not my world. A million years from now, if I put a gun to my head, I wouldn’t be able to create something like this. But the fun part is being invited and involved.
It must be interesting for an actor to participate in a project and immerse himself in a universe that is totally unknown to him. Such a thing must be even wilder when you step into such a wild show The boys. While it’s a whole new world for Paul Reiser, he’s already proving he’s a pro in this twisted world of heroes and villains. His experience was probably also enriched by the fact that the fans were so welcoming.
Paul Reiser also went on to say that because he didn’t know anything about one of the best superhero shows on Amazon Prime, he decided to do some research and even got to watch his son, who is a fan of the series. He explained:
I thought, ‘Oh, that’s another thing. It is really wild. My 21-year-old son, who is really into the world and loves the show, I had to ask him, ‘So you guys are so gross on purpose? OK, so that’s different. Because if you didn’t, it would be violent, graphic and horrible. But then you say, ‘Okay, these guys really know what they’re doing.’
a show like The boys It definitely takes some getting used to, as it offers quite intense scenarios. But at least Paul Reiser got some help coming to terms with the fictional universe and the high level of obscenity that comes with it. Evil creatures and alternate dimensions Strange things they are quite wild, but certainly not comparable to what is shown in the adaptation of the comic.
Honestly, considering this is one of the best original shows on Amazon Prime, I’m surprised The boys it wasn’t something Paul Reiser had ever heard of. Again, it wasn’t exactly in his wheelhouse, and there’s a lot of great content as it is.
This week, fans are gearing up for the final episode, which will feature the long-awaited (and somewhat feared) plot adaptation of “Herogasm”. The infamous story, which comes straight from the comics, will see the Supes head to an island for a week-long orgy. Chaos will ensue, of course, but if that means seeing hilarious characters naked, it may or may not be worth it. And I don’t know about you, but I’m curious to hear Paul Reiser’s thoughts after he airs.
The boys Season 3 is now streaming on Amazon Prime, with new episodes releasing every Thursday!
