And what Naked ?
It’s difficult to create a more evocative title than Naked. A title that refers to sending intimate photos. This modern phenomenon is highlighted by the French series Prime Video (adapted from a Norwegian version). cyber bullying through three distinct stories. Three parts, composed of three episodes (four for the first part), and directed by three different directors: Andréa Bescond, Sylvie Verheyde and Lucie Borleteau.
It then concerns Victor, in his first year of medical school, accused by a girl in his class of having a video leaked onto the Internet of her in a full relationship. Then from Sofia, a high school student of working-class origins who entered a more bourgeois school, who after an evening discovers that her first time with a girl was filmed and broadcast. And finally from Ada, a student of hers whose photos sent to a boy from her school end up on her forums, comparing them with her to the dangers of child crime.
How much is the Prime Video series worth?
Through the characters of Vittorio, Sofia, Adaand those around them, Naked offers a broad representation of the young people of our time. So let’s immediately think about Skins (2007 and 2013), who at the time did not hesitate to mix genres to address numerous topics. It’s the same with Nakedexcellent entertainment capable of leaning towards the thriller side without undermining the dramatic sideand which calls into question various themes.
Like the relationship between classes with Sofia, the comparison of young people with demanding adults for Victor, the relationship with the body and social pressures for Ada. Without forgetting a representation of racism, sexism or even homophobia through different characters (main or secondary).

Naked so it offers a representation of youth in a broad sense, from middle school to the first years of university, but also by society as a whole. And this with the aim of telling, above all, a compelling story. We are then immediately fascinated by this choice to put ourselves from the point of view of the accused with Victor, a complex and ambiguous character. We want to believe it at first, before doubt arises, then the truth comes out.
This empathy of the viewer for the boy evolves perfectly, thanks to the quality of the writing and the series, but also thanks to the solid interpretation of Battista Masseline. The young actor is a great revelation, as are the interpreters of Ada (Sacha Lauras) and Sofia (Léonie Dahan-Lamort). The latter also leaves its mark in the strong directorial choices of Sylvie Verheyde, especially in the evening scenes (already with Stella is in love).
Naked it is therefore controlled at all levels. Relevant in the subject, in what it denounces, without sinking into sordid drama or voyeurism. An excellent proposal to discover on Prime Video from February 1, 2024.
