Netflix unveils an explosive trailer for the sequel to this sci-fi film that was a hit in 2020

Code 8 : small budget, big success

Launched in 2019 on Netflix, Code 8 it was a surprise success. There was originally a 2016 short film of the same name, directed by Jeff Chan. A short film already produced by Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell, which would serve as a teaser for a long version. The two cousins ​​then launched a crowdfunding campaign and managed to raise just over 2 million dollars thanks to 30,810 contributors. It was therefore on a minimal budget that this science fiction film was produced. But there is no need for anything else for Jeff Chan and his two actors, as they managed to produce a hit on Netflix, which at the time had quickly positioned itself among the top 10 of the most watched Netflix films in France (and many other countries).

As a reminder, Code 8 is set in a world where 4% of the population is born with supernatural powers. But despite their abilities, these people live in poverty and are discriminated against. Connor Reed (Robbie Amell), a man capable of controlling electricity, struggles to raise enough money to pay for his mother’s treatment. The latter suffers from an illness that prevents her from controlling her power. It is for this reason that Connor will join a criminal group, after being approached by Garett (Stephen Amell) for a mission that will not be his last…

The sequel is coming soon

After the success of Code 8Netflix has ordered a sequel, Code 8 Part II, with Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell again, and Jeff Chan remaining as director. And almost four years after the first work, this new film is revealed thanks to a first trailer (video on the front page of an article) unveiled by the streaming platform. As announced at the end Code 8, the ban on powers has passed and now the police are proving to be increasingly dangerous for people with powers. The use of machines visibly helps Sergeant Kingston quell the situation.

Connor will then ask Garett for help in leaving town. And the latter will have to make the right decision so as not to suffer police violence himself. Code 8 Part II promises its share of action and should delight fans of the first work. They won’t have to wait long before they can discover the film. It will be published online on Netflix on February 28.
