The Devil Wears Prada: a timeless classic
In 2003, writer Lauren Weisberger explored the cutthroat environment of the fashion industry with her novel The devil wears Prada, which became a bestseller. The author, Anna Wintour’s former assistant at Vogueshe was inspired by her own story to write her novel (although she denied that the editor-in-chief character was inspired by Anna Wintour).
Three years later, this story was adapted for the screen by director David Frankel, with Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep in the lead roles.
The first plays Andrea Sachs (known as Andy), a young graduate who lands a dream job as a personal assistant the formidable editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine RunwayMiranda Priestly, played brilliantly by Meryl Streep.
Andy, who aspires to become a serious journalist, initially sees this position simply as a stepping stone to a more prestigious career. However, he quickly finds himself thrust into a world of excessive demands, endless hours and moral compromises as he attempts to juggle the demands of his job with his own aspirations.
The devil wears Prada it was also the opportunity for many viewers to discover Emily Blunt for the first time. The latter plays Emily, Miranda’s first assistant, who must train Andy.

Further proof, if any were needed, of the cult film status acquired by the feature film, released in 2006, and which continues to attract spectators.
