Fantastic 4: reboot cast officially announced

Fantastic 4: reboot cast officially announced

The Fantastic Four return (again)

The Fantastic Four, one of the most iconic superhero groups in the Marvel universe, have seen several film adaptations over the years, without really being able to find the right recipe. Which explains why there have been numerous reboot attempts.

Their first appearance was in 2005. Directed by Tim Story, this film marks the first major appearance of the Fantastic Four in a live-action feature film. Starring Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Jessica Alba as Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Chris Evans as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm (The Thing ), the film explores the origin of their powers and their confrontation with Doctor Doom (played by Julian McMahon). Despite mixed reviews, the film was commercially successful, leading to a sequel in 2007 with the same cast.

In 2015, there was a first reboot, directed by Josh Trank and carried out by Miles Teller (Reed Richards), Kate Mara (Sue Storm), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm) and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm). This film attempted to offer a darker and more realistic perspective on the heroes’ story. However, it was widely criticized for its tone, character development, narrative choices, and it was a commercial and critical failurewhich put future plans for the franchise on hold.

But with Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, another Fantastic Four return has been announced. And after many months of rumors, we finally know the casting.

The cast of the 2025 film is revealed

Marvel has in fact officially announced this new reboot of Fantastic Four directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) will be worn by Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing). On the other hand, we still don’t know who will play Doctor Doom, the great superhero antagonist.

For the occasion, Marvel posted an early retro poster with the actors in the shoes of their characters, for Valentine’s Day:

An official date has also been revealed: the film will be released in theaters July 25, 2025 in the United States (and probably two days earlier in France). It had previously been dated April 30, 2025, the date ultimately chosen by Disney for its film Lightning.
