Zorro : an image and synopsis for the series starring Jean Dujardin
In October 2022, to everyone’s surprise, we learned that a new series Zorro with Jean Dujardin was in preparation. Surprising and funny information when we know that the actor has already played the character in a parodic way season 2 of plane tree. But this time it won’t be a comedy. And this French production therefore intends to put the famous Diego de la Vega back in the spotlight. A mission entrusted to Benjamin Charbit (Under control) and Noé Debré (Parliament), the two creators of this series, co-authored with Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud.
Other than that, information about the show has been minimal until now. But finally a press release gives it new details ON Zorrowith in particular a synopsisAND a photo of the hero on horseback (see below).
In 1821, Don Diego de la Vega became mayor of his beloved city of Los Angeles, which he intended to prosper. However, the municipality faces financial problems due to the greed of a local businessman, Don Emmanuel, against whom the mayor’s powers prove insufficient to combat injustice. Diego hasn’t called on his Zorro lookalike for 20 years. But in the name of his general interest he has no choice but to bring out his mask and his sword. Very soon, Diego will encounter difficulty reconciling his dual identity as Zorro and mayor, which puts a strain on his marriage to Gabriella, who is unaware of his secret. Can Diego save his marriage and his sanity amid the chaos?
Where and when to see Zorro ?
It is therefore an elderly Zorro something we will discover in the series given that the character will return to service after 20 years of inactivity. Alongside him we will find Audrey Dana, Salvatore Ficarra, André Dussollier, Eric Elmosnino and Grégory Gadebois. Made of 8 episodes of 40 minutesthe series was directed by Jean-Baptiste Saurel (Parallels) and Emilie Noblet (Repeat). Finally, a surprise comes from the show’s broadcast methods, given that it will be available first on Fundamental+ (co-producer), before being broadcast on France Télévisions. The streaming platform has recently established itself in France. This first broadcast window should therefore be useful in attracting new subscribers.
On the other hand, we will still have to wait before we can find out Zorro. The release date has not yet been announced. But the press release confirms that the series will launch by the end of 2024.
