The James Cameron exhibition opens in Paris

While it is currently in full post-production ofAvatara3director James Cameron went to the French capital for a few days for the launch of the exhibition The art of James Cameronwhich will be held at the Cinémathèque française, from 4 April 2024 to 5 January 2025.

The exhibition, divided into six main themes, highlights the evolutionary path of his ideas, from his youthful sketches to his most famous films, which have fascinated millions of spectators around the world. He reveals how his early drawings, infused with robots, exoskeletons and apocalyptic landscapes, laid the aesthetic foundation for his work. More than just a retrospective, this exhibition offers a dive into the various aspects of James Cameron’s creative genius, from technological innovation to his fascination with the unknown.

The exhibition presents for the first time hundreds of drawings and paintings by James Cameron from his private collection. It also highlights accessories and costumes from his most famous films, such as Titanic, Terminator, Aliens OR Avatars. It also highlights his role as an innovator across multiple disciplines, demonstrating that despite moving from pencil to camera, Cameron has managed to maintain a singular and ambitious vision for each of his projects.

The real drawings of Jack Dawson (Titanic) are exhibited.

For fans of James Cameron’s films, this exhibition is a real treasure, including various original props used in his filming, most of which have never been displayed before. This is the case of Jack Dawson’s (Leonardo DiCaprio) drawings in Titanic, which were actually designed by Cameron himself and can be seen in this exhibition. The highlight of the show is obviously Jack’s famous sketch of Rose (Kate Winslet), naked, with the ocean jewel heart around her neck. In addition to this work, other preparatory sketches are also visible, displayed like the Mona Lisa, in the center of the room, and which should attract thousands of visitors in the coming days.

Also on display are “real” drawings by Jack Dawson

Also in the part of the exhibition dedicated to Titanicwe also discover the real sketches imagined by James Cameron, which we can see Jack’s portfolio that Rose browses on the bridge. We can see the famous “Madame Bijoux”, or the one-legged prostitute. All these drawings are signed JD (for Jack Dawson).
