During his childhood and adolescence, Matt Cameron, known for playing drums in Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, was in a Kiss cover band
Known as a drummer for iconic bands such as Soundgarden It is Pearl Jam, Matt Cameron had a different contact with another big music band. When he was a teenager, he received extrajudicial notification from the Kisslegendary American hard rock band led by Gene Simmons.
During an interview with Howard Stern Show to promote Dark Mattermost recent album by Pearl Jamthe drummer recalled how he met the Kiss in his youth and, months later, he received the summons.
In childhood and adolescence, Cameron was part of a cover band Kiss. “We played at local schools, keggers, etc. And my dad was friends with the head of the stagehands union in San Diego, so when the Kiss was playing there…during the tour’Alive,’ in 1975, we went to see them do a sound check at Pechanga Arena San Diego.”
“So I brought the two guys I was in the band with [cover] of Kiss, Tim It is Dave Mahoneyand we brought our photo album of our stupid cover band Kiss to know Paul Stanleyand we took a picture with him,” he continued. “We were like, ‘Hey man, we’re in a cover band of Kisshere’s our stupid little photo album.'”
Cut to, I don’t know, four to six months later, we received an extrajudicial notice from Aucoin Management. We were big fans of Kissand the Kiss used to put the logo of Aucoin Management on the albums. So we were all excited: ‘Wow, we’re getting a letter from Aucoin Management, we achieved!’ And it was an extrajudicial notification from them.
When they opened the envelope in the letter they got a surprise that wasn’t any special invitation: “I think we just called [nossa] band of Kiss. We don’t really think about the future. So after that we saw ‘KISS‘ and in parentheses: ‘Imitation.'”
