The Acolyte: Disney+’s next Star Wars series

Disney+ will soon launch a new series Star Wars in live action with The Acolyte. A program we look forward to as its story should bring some newness to the universe created by George Lucas. In fact, if the latest programs ( The Mandalorian, The Boba Fett book, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor OR Ahsoka) took place in periods close to the films, The Acolyte for his part, he will move away from it to allow us to experience part of the era of the High Republic. Or at least 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace (1999).

This flashback will allow us to introduce new characters to the Star Wars universe. In particular, we will follow several Jedi and apprentices who will see their daily lives turned upside down by the assassination of one of their own. The person responsible should be a Sith, an enemy that the protagonists will have never heard of a priori.

The Neimoidians will be there

While introducing new faces, Leslye Headland, the creator of The Acolyte, obviously decided to take inspiration from part of the prelogy. Even just in terms of combat, the series would aim to deliver an even more impressive lightsaber battle than the one between Darth Maul, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in episode 1. In addition to that, a people well known to fans of Star Wars, and introduced in The Phantom Menace, will be involved in the show. Regard of the Neimoidianswhich he directed the Trade Federation in the first work of the prelogy. Following Darth Sidious’ orders, they contributed greatly to the outbreak of the Clone Wars, before being massacred by Anakin at the end of Episode 3.

Disney+ then revealed an image of the Neimoidians, thus confirming it their presence inside The Acolyte. Which is not aberrant given that the history of these people dates back 25,000 years before the Imperial Era and their golden age began 350 years before the Battle of Yavin (Star Wars episode 4). They could therefore have real importance in The Acolyte.

When and where to see The Acolyte?

We can find out The Acolyte on Disney+ from June 4th. She will notably include Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett and Carrie-Anne Moss. A trailer has already been revealed, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to see the final result. Until then, Star Wars fans can dive into the animated series Tales of the Empirewhich will arrive on the platform on May 4th.
