Godsend is given a second life on Netflix
Released in cinemas in 2004, the film Manna from heaven: forbidden experiment directed by Nick Hamm was not a great success. Far from there. In France, the feature film, directed by Greg Kinnear, Rebecca Romijn and Robert De Niro, attracted just 88,000 viewers. At the worldwide box office, the film had total revenue of $30 million (on an estimated budget of $25 million).
But as often happens with platforms, this film went unnoticed 20 years ago, is experiencing a second life thanks to its recent arrival on Netflix France. Therefore, at the time I write these lines, the A godsend is currently in sixth place among the most watched films on the platform in France.

Between psychological thriller and science fiction
Godsend tells the story of Paul and Jessie Duncan, a couple mourning the tragic loss of their son Adam, who died in an accident. Desperate in their grief, they are approached by Dr. Richard Wells (Robert De Niro), a controversial doctor specialized in human cloning. He offers the couple a radical solution: clone Adam to allow them to find their son.
The couple, in their emotional distress, accepts the offer and a new Adam is created. At first everything seems perfect. The boy is an exact replica of his deceased son, bringing comfort and a second chance to the family. However, strange events begin to occur. Adam exhibits concerning behavior and develops disturbing memories that don’t fit into his current life. She begins to have morbid visions of a past life. His parents then decide to carry out the investigation on their own, and their conclusion takes them back on the trail of the mysterious Doctor Wells who also wanted to use cloning for a personal tragedy.
