The Lord of the Rings : Gollum at the center of a new film
Hollywood continues to revive established franchises with reboots, remakes, and other sequels/prequels. For example, 20th Century Studios recently ordered a new film The maze, after the trilogy (2014-2018) by Wes Ball. This same study that just came out Planet of the Apes: The New KingdomWhile ‘Alien: Romulus is scheduled for this summer (August 14). While some projects are enticing, others can sometimes make fans cringe. This is what risks happening with the announcement of Variety about The Lord of the Rings.
Peter Jackson made his mark between 2001 and 2003 with his trilogy based on the works of JRR Tolkien. His films are anchored in popular culture and remain references. Warner Bros. I decided to return. Not with a remake, we assure you, but with a film dedicated to Gollum. A surprising idea, but one that will bring the spotlight back to the iconic character incarnate Andy Serkis.
The other surprise is that the latter will take over the role and he will direct the feature film himself which bears, for the moment, the title of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum (The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum). The actor has already been behind the camera more than once. First as second unit director of the trilogy The Hobbit (2012-2014) by Peter Jackson. Then he realized the tragedy Breathe (2017), before returning to blockbusters with Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018) e Venom: Let there be carnage (2021).
