The actress and producer had been in the movie business for over a decade when ‘The Sinner’ was released
Jessica Biel is an actress and co-founder of the production company Iron Ocean Studiosbeside MichellePurple. In a podcast interview The Bright Side (via People), however, she admitted that she thought about giving up her career halfway through: “The doors weren’t opening at all, even though she had been in the business for so long.”
“I started with [Purple] when I was twenty-two, and for the first ten years, we had almost no success. We had a really hard time telling any story,” she recalled. It was “a labor of love” until Biel be “presented to The Sinner and then build the series from scratch.”
“When we were actually selling this series, Michelle and I looked at each other and she said, ‘If we don’t sell this series, I’m going to quit.’ And I said, ‘Me too, I’m giving up. I will not do that. I don’t know — if this show doesn’t sell, I don’t know what people want, I don’t know what to offer them. I don’t understand this business anymore. I just don’t understand it anymore.'”
The series was sold and premiered in 2017. The first of four seasons starred Bielwhich earned him nominations for the Golden Globe and to Emmy by paper.
“I don’t think my industry — or being an actor, or a producer — is easy at all. There’s so much blood, sweat, and tears that you put into making these projects happen, and a lot of the things we work on never come to fruition.” , he pondered.
