Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is available on Disney+
If you missed it in theaters in February 2023 and you’re a Disney+ subscriber: good news! The film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania just arrived on the platform this Friday, July 19th.
Regard first film of phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (which continues with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 AND The wonders, and which will also contain the highly anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine, Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts). and is part of the “multiverse saga”.
The Multiverse Saga, which encompasses Phases IV, V, and VI of the MCU, explores the ramifications of alternate realities and the multiverse. Following the Infinity Saga (which concluded with Avengers: Endgame), this new saga focuses on the consequences of the manipulation of time and multiple realities, with new antagonists, starting with Kang the Conqueror, who appears here, in the guise of Jonathan Majors (who has since been fired from the MCU).
A pharaonic budget for a fluctuating result
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania takes place two years after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Scott Lang (still played by Paul Rudd) is enjoying his Avenger fame after the victory against Thanos. His previously orderly life is turned upside down when he and his entire family are sent into the Quantum Realm.
They realize that this world is much more complex and dangerous than they had imagined. In the heart of this adventure, they meet Kang the Conqueror, a being with immense powers and multiversal ambitions. Kang poses a grave threat not only to them, but to the entire multiverse. The heroes must explore this mysterious world, uncover its secrets, and stop Kang from carrying out his destructive plans.
The film directed by Peyton Reed boasts one of the most massive budgets in the MCU nearly $330 million in production costs (the main budget was estimated at 200 million, but post-production costs skyrocketed). And the total worldwide box office was only 476 million dollars (the film would have had to gross at least 700 to cover its costs). With The wondersThis is a huge commercial failure for Disney, in a dark year, 2023 (no film has exceeded the billion mark, for the first time since 2014).
