Greek actor Giorgos Chrysostomou has spoken about how psychotherapy changed his life, explaining that he used to lose control due to a quick temper but now feels in far greater control of his emotions.

Speaking on the Greek television show Hamogela Kai Pali on Tuesday, September 29, the actor said he has worked extensively on himself in recent years, though he noted he is unsure whether getting older or a specific event prompted the shift.
Chrysostomou explained that therapy alone is not a complete fix, comparing paying 50 euros for a therapy session without doing personal reflection to paying for a gym membership and failing to attend. He added that while others notice the changes in his behavior most clearly, he also recognizes progress during stressful moments, such as staying calm despite fatigue during rehearsals.
He noted that his past anger was primarily directed at himself rather than at other people, but he now feels better equipped to process his feelings and act calmly.
Workload and negative thoughts
Addressing his professional life, Chrysostomou confessed that he often works more than he should in order to keep negative thoughts at bay. He said that when he is not working heavily, he begins to overthink and become agitated, making constant work a helpful outlet.
The actor reflected on whether money drives happiness, recalling a phrase he had heard that there are very rich people who are unhappy and very poor people who are happy. He admitted he does not know the exact reason why people work so much, but acknowledged that keeping busy helps him avoid distressing thoughts.
First holiday in years
Chrysostomou revealed that he managed to take a ten-day holiday this year, marking his first ten-day break since his school days. However, by the seventh day of rest, his stomach and body began to react to the downtime.
Reflecting on his personal evolution, the actor said he is growing older and is unsure whether he actively made the decision to change or if life brought it about naturally.
Chrysostomou is a prominent Greek actor who has performed extensively in theatre and television productions across Greece.
